Dear readers — it’s been a pretty mixed weekend for the gang at Mill Towers. Joshi has been in Romania, Jack Walton has been in Marseilles (presumably chowing down on some bouillabaisse) Lucy was partying at Green Island festival and Ophira stayed in Todmorden and drank.
Jack Dulhanty, true to character, was away for work, on a mission to the town of Crossmaglen on the Northern Irish border for our reinvestigation of the 1996 Manchester bombing.

This time next week will mark 30 years since the IRA detonated the largest peacetime bomb on English soil since the second world war. Over the last few months, Jack has been working with veteran war correspondent and author Toby Harnden, trying to get to the bottom of who in the IRA was behind the bombing, and why no one was convicted. Keep an eye out for that this weekend.
But first we’ve got your briefing, with your usual by-election round up, an update on Robert De Niro’s big old Mancunian tower, a story about Lucy getting heckled at a stand-up comedy show, and a few words from our weatherman on the return of summer.
