Dear Millers — it’s an evening members’ newsletter because we wanted to bring you an A-level results day edition on the day itself. Mollie spent this morning speaking to school leavers around town and has written a piece that really lets us hear from the teenagers directly in their own words. It’s an emotional read in places.

These students are effectively the pandemic cohort, who have spent the majority of their Sixth Form years in various states of lockdown. They have experienced classroom restrictions, self-isolation, remote learning and cancelled exams — all culminating in today’s unusual set of results.

Before that, we have our usual mini-briefing and a little segment on Tony Wilson, who died 14 years ago today. Welcome to the dozen new Mill members who signed up yesterday — if any of you fancies joining Millers Talk, our members-only Facebook group, you can find that here and just wait for us to let you in.
