Dear members — on Friday, writer Dani Cole went on a night out. Not for drinks with friends or to dance the night away, but to the Conservatives’ hustings in Manchester — and she wrote about it for us. It’s a Tory-heavy summer at the Mill HQ: Joshi Herrmann — now on his holidays in Romania — made his prose swan song for August in UnHerd, where he questioned whether Labour’s dominance here (“91 of the city’s 96 councillors are Labour”) works to this city’s advantage in his essay “Does Manchester need the Tories?”
