Dear members — as if we didn’t post pictures of Mill HQ enough already, our office has now become globally famous after the visit of Bernie Sanders. You can spot our faded Persian carpets and mid-century furniture in Novara Media’s viral interview with the senator from Vermont (which has now been seen more than seven million times).
And now you can see clips of our own chat with Bernie, in which he talked clearly and urgently about the “horrific” consequences of the collapse of local news. In a different clip, he described the hollowing-out of local newsrooms as a “disaster for democracy".
Joshi will write more about Bernie’s comments and their significance in raising a public debate about what’s happening in local media.
