Good morning Millers - this is a members-only post about a pretty amazing Manchester business story: Autocab. Amidst all the gloomy news in the local economy at the moment, the tale of Autocab stands out as a major success and a sign of what tech companies in this region can achieve.

We want to do more business reporting on The Mill because it feels like an area where Greater Manchester isn’t particularly well-served at the moment (10 years ago the MEN had around eight journalists on the business desk, and now they are down to one). So if you have ideas about stories we should be looking into, please reply to this email.

Editor’s note (28/10): This post originally stated that the MEN used to have eight business reporters. As a reader pointed out, this wasn’t quite right so we have corrected the sentence in question.
