Good evening members - tonight’s newsletter is an update on two fairly dry-but-important topics: the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework and the government’s Spending Review, which was delivered this afternoon by Rishi Sunak. We put questions about both to Andy Burnham earlier and spoke to the head of the IPPR North think tank too.

Before we get to that: We got fantastic feedback on yesterday’s story - our interview with two 17-year-olds from Salford. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s here. It’s so rare that journalists these days get time to speak to normal people and have an honest conversation about their lives - people who aren’t being used to promote a cause or a company but who you just meet on the street. That’s why stories like yesterday’s are a core part of our approach, and it’s great to see them being well received.
