We visited a food bank near where Marcus Rashford grew up
'In the last few weeks, we’ve noticed a lot more people who were doing very well before Covid'
Good morning Millers - yesterday Dani visited a food bank in Wythenshawe. It’s famously the area where Marcus Rashford grew up, and we wanted to find out a bit more about what leads people there to be running short of food.
Sometimes when you go and do reporting like this, you get one insight that really hits home, and for me it’s the quote the priest gives about families choosing between buying food and paying for their MOT. For many of us, that’s such a banal expense - something we pay for every year. But for some of these families, it’s a horrible choice between keeping a job long term and feeding their children.
