Plus: The government takes a Manchester developer to court

Dear readers — we’re back to a full house at The Mill this week. Jack and Ophira have returned from their travels in Antalya confused and bewildered by the rhythms of normal life. They’re sitting in the office now, being very brave about the fact that their 10:30am cocktail run has been replaced by sifting through the latest news about Urban Splash.

Not that you’d need to travel to southern Turkey to get the continental experience at this time of year. Albert Square, as seen in this wonderful picture from Manc Wanderer below, is now fully reopened to the public as a prime city centre sun-trap. Behold!

Meanwhile, our weatherman Martin Miles is predicting a spectacular Wednesday through to Friday run this week (with peaks of 22°C on Thursday). With admirable stoicism, Martin tells us that even the weekend, when temperatures will drop, is “not a write off”.

If you weren’t able to peel the cucumber slices from your eyes over the weekend, do take the time to catch up on our weekend read, about the company advertising Northern Quarter flats it doesn’t own on Rightmove (much to the chagrin of the people who do own them). Why might they do such a thing? Here’s the button that will provide the answer to that question.

And a reminder! Mark your calendar for Tuesday 12th May for our next event. We’ll be at the brand-new Colony King Street location to discuss whether Manchester’s workers are coming back to the office, and how the city works these days. We’ve got a panel of experts and academics, and the event is exclusive to Mill readers. Tickets here.
