Mystery at the museum: what are the stories behind thousands of objects from Africa?
Manchester Museum cares for more than 40,000 objects from across Africa, many of which were collected during the period of the British Empire. They arrived by different methods: trade, anthropology, confiscation and looting. As a result, the museum has little idea about what the stories are behind many of them. The Africa Hub is hoping to get answers and find information such as makers, original names, cultural meanings and community of origin.
