Good morning members — it’s Jack here with my first “writer’s edition” in a little while.
For the many newbies who have joined this month (156 newbies in July! That’s close to being a record for us), this kind of edition is a bit of a break from our usual fare of long reads, briefings and scoopy news stories. It’s a chance for our staffers to write in a slightly more personal way and cover a range of topics in one edition, including what I’ve been reading, where I’ve been eating and what I’ve been listening to. There’s also a question surrounding a curious memorial plaque on a bench in Platt Fields Park and a lovely set of photos from the University of Manchester’s graduation ceremonies last week.
