great article, are you sure about the pistols at the electric circus? I must have missed that...
saw the ramones, stranglers, souxie etc there, but my all time fave was at the last night - steel pulse, my first live reggae band - epic
regarding the PSV/russell club/factory, as well as wilson and co, don't forget possibly the worlds only philanthropist promoter = the late alan wise. on any week you could see s laughter and the dogs, the drones, human league, a dominoes comp, sound system clashes ( jah baron hi-fi v blakkabullit )
and dj tunes ranging from mighty real, money in my pocket, ghetto heaven (hardly smooth soul...)
we lost that place -the brewery kicked us out cos we couldn't pay for the drinks, bar money went to the bands. the only night we made a profit was...iggy pop! moved to the osbourne club on rochdale road, but that's another story.....
Your report mentions Joy Division at the Bowdon Vale Youth Club, where was this club? I live in Bowdon Vale and I’m curious to know if it was in the building which now houses the Coop?
I think the Co-Op is next door. From what I can tell, the Youth Club was demolished. I have a photo of the exterior. If you want, you can email me at frankowengavin@gmail.com and I will send it you. Or copy and paste this link:

The Sex Pistols played the Electric Circus twice -- 9 December and 19 December, 1976.

Glad you liked the article.
Life is full of coincidences: yesterday at Buxton Fringe I saw an ex member of Manicured Noise perform
Yes, too many jobs and not enough decrepitude are always going to hamper the impoverished artists amongst us. The price of progress?
Could I get your first name please, so we can include your pithy comment in our witty letters section please? Best, Dani
Hi, it’s Mark
I was lucky enough to meet Peter backstage at the recent Hacienda Classic event and he was a true gentleman and still making that bass guitar buzz
Great article. I really enjoyed reading it and have been searching out some joy Division songs on YouTube 👍🙂

That’s great Frank. Thank you so much. I had heard about this club but never sure about the location. Shame it was demolished. Best wishes, Dorli
