Dear members — today’s story is about an intrepid independent media company in Greater Manchester… no not this one. The Salford Star announced it was closing last year, after 15 years of publishing. It was set up with funds from Salford Council, but the two parties soon became bitter enemies. Jack Walton went to meet its founder and editor Stephen Kingston.
