For some, the answer to gangster landlords, senior loneliness and the climate crisis lies in communal life. We head to a Manchester housing co-op to see what it's like.
Best of luck to these people, hopefully they are successful and inspire others to do the same.
Speaking to my grandma about how she raised 8 children in a 2 bed house with no running water. She answered that there was always a neighbour to help you out. They just borrowed anything they couldn't buy.
(I do suspect her life was a bit harder than she made out).
Brilliant idea. I really don’t understand why the council aren’t encouraging and supporting this. Would solve so many issues in one go.
As a single parent of a disabled child it could be amazing - something like this with a couple of similar families would have the potential to bring so much benefit.
I love this idea. I hope we hear more and more about this kind of movement. It's such a sustainable and social way of living.
Hi Debbie, thanks for reading. I'm including this in our Letters section, what's your borough? Best, Dani ☺️

I love this, myself and friends have talked about doing something about this for a while. Definitely think this is the way forward.

Great idea . This kind of thing only seems to be developed in big cities though where services and transport issues link up.. supposedly.
