I’m not so sure that the seat will be lost by the Tories, local election results seem to show that opposition is split between Lib Dems, Greens and Labour. Conservatives retaining the seat with a minority vote wouldn’t surprise me.
I will not be sorry to lose Brady though, the member for Brexit and grammar schools
I profoundly disagree with the man's politics, but he does seem to have been that rare thing these days, a principled Tory. The next election looks like being an interesting event, and, probably, a bloodbath for the Tories.
Politics is all about opportunism and Conservatism is at the apex of self interest so it is unsurprising that with constituency boundary changes and a national sentiment shift that Graham Brady is bowing out.The exodus of 22 Tory sitting MPs not standing again is perhaps more interesting given the relative youth of many of these quitters which supports expert opinion think that Labour will be in power for quite a long time.
