A very interesting read. After an absence of 20 years in Canada, I moved back to the UK and to Manchester, and was surprised to find how deeply involved the Chinese are in the investment/ buy to let market. I shouldn't have been really. Chinese money has played an integral part in massive property price inflation in both Toronto and Vancouver, so much so that the latter introduced a 20% property tax on sales to non citizens / permanent residents about four years ago. One aspect that the article doesn't touch on, and I don't know how true it is of Manchester, is the role Chinese students play in all this, as their parents invest their money in accommodation their kids will live in while studying abroad. Killing two birds with one stone, you might say.

An interesting read, thank you. Just wondering if the high rises are continuing into the Irk Valley as part of the Northern Gateway or is it much more low level /houses . This area further up Rochdale Road was highlighted in Manctopia.
