I've come late to this fascinating story. I have been lucky enough to have visited the Everest base camp in Tibet, and the photograph of the glacier brings back vivid memories. An interesting coincidence that the hints about Wilson's sexuality come from a book being published at about the same time as obituaries for Jan Morris, who, as James Morris, was the correspondent who broke the news of the successful climb in 1953.
