For six years, The Mill has been digging into the history of Manchester, publishing pieces by some of the best historical writers and researchers. We're hosting a history night, digging into two of our most popular historical stories.
Hosted by The Mill's founder Joshi Herrmann, you will hear from Emily Chung, a researcher at the University of Cambridge, whose research has questioned the class segregation in industrial Manchester as described by Friedrich Engels. She will use maps, stories and data to explain how Mancunians really lived.
Our second guest is very well known to Mill readers: Thomas McGrath has been writing since we started and has written some of our most-read history pieces. He will be talking about some of the historical characters he has found in the archives and giving new meaning to some of the city's most famous streets and buildings.
