Dear Millers — the Michelin guide hosted its annual announcement ceremony for Great Britain and Ireland on Monday. For the first time ever, it was held in Manchester. This is funny for a couple of reasons: firstly, we’ve not exactly had a surplus of luck when it comes to securing Michelin stars for our restaurants in the past. There’s only one Michelin star restaurant here, and prior to Mana, we did without for almost half a century.
So Michelin coming up here to dole out its stars sparked rumours that things were finally on the up. Maybe we’d get a second Michelin star restaurant, and who was to say we wouldn’t get a third? Given our stern anti-clickbait policy, we are obliged to inform you that this didn’t happen. In today’s article, Jack asks: what made us think that it would?
